THE CLUB

We are dedicated to the development of travel soccer players, to play locally, regionally, in high school and beyond. More than 20 teams play at all levels of competition, fielding over 300 boys and girls aged 8 to 18.  Teams play the majority of games in the Westchester Youth Soccer League, and also compete in the Eastern New York Premier League, the highly competitive Northeast Regional Premier League, State Cup,  Mid-Atlantic Premier Soccer, NY Cup and tournaments.  Our aim is to provide players with the skills needed to play at a higher level through school and into college.  We are a volunteer run organization, all club officials are current and past parents of FC Somers players.

Both our boys and girls teams form at U8 as a result of our U8 Academy Program, and they compete in the spring playing up at U9.

COMMITTMENT   FC Somers is a year long commitment for teams U9 through High School (High School Teams typically play one season – spring).  Players are expected to attend a minimum of two training sessions per week during the season and one training session per week during the winter.  All players participate in tryouts post-Memorial Day, to form teams for the upcoming fall season.  As teams and players strengthen and enhance their skills, depending on a teams ability and desire, additional playing and training opportunities open up, such a in-season tournaments, state cup, summer tournament series, premier.  We encourage players to participate in soccer camps over the summer months.

FEES   Upon selection to a team a non-refundable registration fee is payable.  The registration fee for the entire fall/spring season is $245 (2012/13 season).  Registration fees are payable by credit card upon registration and cover: Fall and spring season registration with Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL); fall and spring League competition; Referee Fees; Insurance Costs; Club Administration Fees and Uniform.

Additional team fees for training, tournaments and winter indoor facilities are applicable and differ from team to team. Details can be obtained from team coaches/managers during tryouts.

TRAINING  Our trainers are state/nationally certified, have undergone a rigorous ENYYSA Risk Managment Program (background check) and have a proven record of success.  Teams train twice a week each season (fall and spring) and once a week, indoors during the winter. In addition, we hold weekly complementary specialized training sessions for all our players and goal keepers.  To develop the skills to compete effectively a minimum of 2hrs training per week is recommended.
