Current Trainers
Milan Davidovic – FC Somers Director of Coaching. Joined FC Somers in 2016. Born and raised in Serbia where he played nationally and coached at the professional clubs of FK Novi Becej (Womens) and FK Novi Sad (Mens). In the US, he has coached club soccer with Met Oval and POB, and college soccer with Missouri Valley (MO), Lehmann and Fordham (NY). Milan is a full-time soccer coach. Holds a UEFA “B” license.
Toma Gojcevic – Joined FC Somers in 2007. Current Lehman College men’s head coach. Has also coached at the collegiate level at Manhattan College (1995), Fordham University (1996, 2000-02), and SUNY Maritime College (1997-2000). School and Club Experience: Named the PSAL Bronx ‘A’ Coach of the Year for leading Evander Childs High School, twice named the North County News Coach of the Year (2005 and 2009). Head coach at Westchester Community College (1988, 1992). Graduate NCAA Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University. Played professionally in the American Soccer League (1998-1994: Albany Capitals, New Jersey Eagles and Connecticut Wolves). At the youth level: coaches boys and girls teams of all ages and runs summer camps in the region. In 1993, his FC Somers team BU14 Razors became ENY State Cup Champions, in 2017/18 10 players of the current team will play soccer in college (3 – NCAA Division 1, 7 – NCAA Division 3). In FC Somers, he currently coaches the BU18 Galaxy and BU15 Red Hawks. Holds a USSF “A” license in addition to a Master’s Degree in Health Education. He is a New York State certified teacher in Health and Physical Education.
Brian Lanzetta – Joined FC Somers in 2014. He is currently the girls varsity head coach at Somers High School following a tremendously successful run as the boys varsity head coach. Previously he served as the junior varsity coach at Yorktown High School (2011-2015). Brian was a scholar-athlete at NCAA D3 Kean University, NJ and an Iona College graduate. He has a Masters in Physical Education. Brian is a Somers High School alumnus; as a player receive all-section and honorable mention awards.
Amanda Da Costa started playing soccer locally with AYSO and FC Somers during her youth. She was a varsity soccer athlete at Somers High School beginning in 8th grade. She earned all-section and all-league honors four times and was named league MVP twice. From 2000–2005, she played for both the ENY North ODP team as well as the Region 1 ODP team. Recruited to Florida State University where she was a four year starter and captain of the team her senior year. She was the first athlete in school history to garner all-ACC accolades all 4 years of her career, and was a 3-time All-American. In 2008, Da Costa was named the Soccer Buzz NCAA freshman of the year, where she scored the game winning goal in the National Semifinals to put Florida State into the NCAA Championship game. Amanda went on to play for Washington Spirit, Chicago Red Stars and Boston Breakers in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Liverpool Ladies in England’s FA WSL, the Washington Freedom and MagicJack in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) and ultimately for the Portuguese national team. Da Costa played on the Portuguese national team for 2 years. She retired as their midfielder this past summer to pursue a masters degree in school psychology.
Coach Trainers are:
- State/nationally licensed and have a proven record of success.
- Undergo a comprehensive background check through US Club Soccer Risk Management.
- Are encouraged and assisted in furthering their soccer education.
One official on each team is CPR certified.
